As a physician and artist, I am acutely aware of the interface between our life energy and
the environment around us.  My art reflects a desire to connect the human touch with the
natural world through multiple artistic processes, including landscape paintings in oil and
pastel, intaglio and relief printmaking, and handmade textiles.  The use of natural
scenery, along with various mediums and natural materials, some in combination, allows
me to express my passion to capture the colors, patterns and textures found in nature and
create artworks that speak of the vitality of our existence and beauty of our world.

"If you want a golden rule that will fit everybody, this is it:  Have nothing in your houses that
you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful."

Although I have always been creative, in 2005, I took creativity seriously and Graduated
from The University of Wisconsin Green Bay with  a BA in Studio Art with a minor in
Graphic Design.  I have been active in art since--working out of my studio at The
ARTgarage in Green Bay, and my home studio in Allouez.  In the spring of 2008, I was
hired as an adjunct instructor to teach Oil Painting by Northeast Wisconsin Technical
College.  A big change occured in September 2011, with my husband and I moving to
Lafayette, CO, to be closer to our daughters.
In the summer, I enjoy painting.  As a true lover of the outdoors, my Oil Paintings are
created both en Plein Air and in the studio from photo references that I take on my hikes
and travels.  I love using color to capture the mood of a scene, and compositions that
invite the viewer to enter in and experience the place I have created for them.
In both Winter and Summer, you might find me printmaking on my Conrad Etching
Press.  Compared to my oil paintings, my print-works are much more abstract and
concept driven.  I often start with photographs and alter/collage them in photoshop until
they are individually unrecognizable, yet the combination image evokes a new idea or
emotion.  I then take that image and use it as the basis for a monotype, collagraph or
intaglio print.  I especially enjoy using natural materials, and although abstract, my
printworks often have a "sense" of landscape or place.
When I'm not doing any of the above, I'm playing with marbling, making paper,
painting textiles,  weaving, or hiking . . . or traveling . . .
